My Story
Why I Founded Brave Roots Turtle Pond
For over 25 years, I’ve dedicated my life to caring for mothers, infants, and children in some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. From bustling academic medical centers to small community hospitals, I’ve walked alongside families navigating birth, illness, uncertainty, and healing.
Throughout my journey in maternal and child health, one truth has always been clear: every child deserves a place to grow, be seen, and be safe—especially those with complex medical needs.
I’ve cared for babies who needed feeding tubes, children learning to breathe with tracheotomies, and adolescents who have never known what it means to feel truly supported. I’ve witnessed the fear in parents’ eyes when they realized they could not safely care for their medically fragile child at home—not for lack of love, but for lack of resources. I’ve seen the gaps in our systems—between hospital and home, between love and logistics—and I knew something had to change.
That’s why I founded Brave Roots Turtle Pond.
